As well as the secrets of its cellars, the Beaujolais offers hilly scenery for every hiker to enjoy.
This circuit will guide you through the “Crus du Beaujolais” region and then onto the Crest route for some enlightening experiences throughout the wine region and its rich heritage. Valleys filled with many water courses, terraced roads and marked paths, groves and forests, stone walls, open countryside and lots of panoramas, everything invites you to come and explore the area.

Beaujolais – site of gastronomy and conviviality, an authentic area that will give you a warm welcome.

On every site you will find key places, viewpoints and walks to entertain you; Châteaux, churches and chapels, old farms, old mills…

This is a pleasant circuit demonstrating the Cru du Beaujolais’ different tastes and aromas.
Day 1: Arrivée
Participants arrive by their own means to Juliénas.
Juliénas wine has a good reputation and to be convinced, you will be able to taste it while you are in the area. Evening meal and overnight stay at the hotel**.
Day 2: De Juliénas to Morgon - 15km
After breakfast you can go and have a look around the weekly market in the centre of Juliénas. You are going to start with a 15km route, following the “Route des Crus du Beaujolais” via Chénas and Fleurie where you will be able to stop and buy some local salted meat. You will have a lovely panorama of the Val de Saône, the famous mill of the “Cru Moulin à Vent” and the Bresse and Dombes in Fleurie.
You are expected in a charming Guest house which dominates the vine region and your evening meal will take place in a nearby restaurant.
Day 3: De Morgon to Beaujeu - 20 km
After breakfast you will go to Beaujeu crossing the vine area and the « Beaujolais Vert » (the forest region of the Beaujolais). You will follow part of the “Route des Crêtes” (Rochefort). The views are wonderful. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Beaujeu.
Day 4: De Beaujeau to Perréon - 18km
After breakfast, you will explore the biotope zone of the Beaujolais. Following the River l’Ardières, you will discover the “Mont-Brouilly” (Brouilly being the cru the furthest down south), you will then come to the Perréon region. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Perréon.
Day 5: De Perréon to Lacenas - 20km
After breakfast, you will set off for the famous village of Clochemerle which inspired Gabriel Chevallier for his picturesque book.
You will head for Montmelas and its famous medieval chateau… you will come to the region of “Pierres Dorées”, the prettiest area of the Beaujolais. Dinner and overnight stay in a guest house in Lacenas.
Day 6: De Lucenas to Sarcey - 25km
After breakfast, you will visit marvellous villages and their châteaux: Jarnioux, Bagnols, Chessy… You will cross the valley of l’Azergues.
Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Sacey.
Day 7: Departure
End of the circuit. Return to Juliènas.

You walk regularly at least twice a month, you are not afraid of hills. You are ready to walk between 15 and 25 km per day.
